the head of the brush without the handle is 2 11/16 x 4 1/4 with the handle is 8 3/4 inches

Is the bristle bed plastic?

Not sure. More cloth like. Have had brush for almost a year and it is still like new. No tears or bristles coming out. The bed does not pull or stick to hair. Love this brush!!
