Very solid lock and perfect for gates or anything outside in the weather. We love it because you can set a combination for your individualized needs, and change from time to time to maintain security. Also because we can share the code, for example, give code to our lawn maint folks so they can access a locked part of the yard anytime vs our having to unlock it for them. Only thing I did NOT care for is that we have bought these over the years and they last a long time. However, on this one the keypad cover has been really cut back, VERY thin rubber now, and will not stay shut. So therefore its pretty worthless. I did not reduce the rating due to that as its easy to keep the lock sprayed with lubricant, but come on Master Lock, stop going backwards on your products!

Bought as like new or used: very good, but the plastic bumper ring around it was broken, more cosmetic than functional, I believe it was going to break eventually anyway. If that's a concern, just rap some rubber bands around it. The lock is very sturdy and the rubber flap that covers the combination underneath appears to be sturdy enough, moreso than the plastic bumper ring. Works well, smooth operation, very sturdy, and the combination was easy to reset to one of my liking. I think I'll hose it down with spray lube to prevent deterioration once or twice a year. Could have chosen a cheaper knock off that would have worked well, the technology is not rocket science. I'm happy with the Master lock, I believe it's probably more refined than a cheaper alternative and some needed a tool to reset the combination which was about as desired as having to keep track of a key (not a desirable feature for me, partially defeats the purpose of this kind of lock: simple security if not top flight). The construction is top flight but a four digit combination, by nature is not, but I opted for simplicity. The construction, materials and sturdiness are excellent and maybe over the top for this kind of lock, but it's what I wanted. Looks very secure and in security: perception is reality 90%+ of the time.

I love this lock! It is far more sturdy than the one I had on my storage room before. Somebody cut that one and went right in and trashed my stuff. I love not having to have a key every time I happen to be driving by and wish I could stop.

I purchased this Master Lock padlock six months ago to secure an indoor storage locker located in a secured area with no high-value items. The lock appears to be very durable and well built with a somewhat heavy feel and is more than adequate for my needs. In terms of daily operation, the lock has been very easy to use. The dials turn easily and smoothly, and the entire mechanism opens and closes effortlessly every time. My only minor complaint regarding the design is that the numbers could be a little easier to read, particularly when being used in dimmer lighting conditions. Although I really love the lock, I am giving it only four stars due to a frustrating issue during the initial setup. Prior to purchasing, I read a few reviews that mentioned buyers could not open the lock using the factory preset combination provided in the packaging, and I experienced the exact same issue. However, as a helpful tip for anyone else who may run into this problem: what I did was change one number of the provided combination one digit at a time. By doing this, I discovered that the factory setting on the second dial was actually off by one digit. Once I finally got the lock open using this troubleshooting method, changing the lock to my own custom combination was a breeze and the lock has been working perfectly ever since.

I use this particular model of Master lock on my race car hauler to lock all the trailer entry points as well as chains around the hitch. I've used this particular model for about 7 years with no issues. These locks are outside and exposed to whatever weather NJ has to offer. Recently purchased this lock to replace a prior key lock. I also lubricate these locks a few times a year with a PTFE lubricant. For my purposes the combination lock works best as various members of my team need to access the trailer. A key lock would never work. Want to make sure the numbers always keep spinning.

Probably the best lock I’ve bought. It feels very solid, and the combination was easy to set. I use it on my backyard gate. The only issue is the black rubber cover on the bottom comes off too easily. Otherwise, great lock!

I bought about $200 worth of these locks for storage containers that I was moving from one side of the country to the other and these are really great. I was using Uhaul‘s U box containers and they include a cheap block with them that I didn’t think was particularly secure and could be easily broken with a set of good bolt cutters. These master locks are way heavier. I’m definitely happy with these and when I’m done with the U box containers I’ll have a whole bunch of locks around for stuff that I need to lock. The locks. Have a combination that you can set yourself.

Study lock! It's quite chunky and feels like it's going to take some effort to cut through, so it gives a positive feeling as a reliable lock. The combination was easy to change, and therefore so far so good!
