Alfred's Basic Piano Library Lesson Book, Bk 4

Have you ever started an activity as a child and never finished only to spend the next year's even into adulthood wishing you had gone further with it? I did until I ran into this book online browsing one day...it was the next level up from where I had left off and I figured I'd give it a shot. I'm so glad I did! I never could've imagined that teaching myself to play could be so easy! I loved the variety of music introduced. I liked the fun and well known songs like Comedians Dance, Hokey Pokey, and America the Beautiful (because what's more motivating than having your kids applaud and dance around singing while you play lol?) but I also enjoyed the more classical Swinging Sevenths, Mussette, and Harmonic Minor Scales in Parallel Motion. As an added bonus, there is a certificate of completion added on the last page to help you celebrate your accomplishments. This book helped me easily pursue enhancing my musical talents as well as renewing my passion for playing and I'll definitely stick with Alfred's lesson books as I continue onto the next levels.

Of the Alfred's Books, the Lesson Books are my favorite for the kids. Like previous Alfred Lesson Books, this book includes fun songs, additional practice for chords, scales, and notes, as well as information on some songs such as the Musette and the Taratellas. There are a few songs in there that are familiar to kids such as America the Beautiful and Hokey Pokey, but a majority of the songs are uncommon/songs we didn't recognize such as the Gypsy Dance or the Haunted House. Overall, solid teaching book for students in the Alfred's Level 4 series.

This book is great! For a better experience I recommend using the books prior to this one so you have a feel of what your working with. The song selection is also amazing! I love the book and will be continuing to buy from this brand!

Alfred's Basic Piano Library Lesson Book 4 has been perfect for teaching our kids piano at home. The step-by-step method presents complex concepts like arpeggiated chords and minor scales in an incredibly accessible way. Our children follow the instructions easily, often practicing independently. The book's emphasis on correct playing habits and note reading through interval recognition has significantly improved their skills. Highly recommended for parents guiding young pianists!

My kid has been using this book series over the last 2 years and became competent in playing the piano. These books are a great teaching tool for piano teachers and I got this recommended by a very good music teacher (a violinist and a piano player by training), and I am happy with it.

I have been teaching for a long time and these book is great to grow and get better.

I use the Alfred's series with my piano students. They are solid in terms of building on skills step by step. The students like many of the songs included and there is a great variety of types of music. We all like the cartoons and bits of humor included. I think this is the best series available for beginners. I think the previous reviewer had a misunderstanding...this IS book 4 after all, a beginner should start with Book 1! (Alfred's also has a series for adults, and one for littler kids.)

I like to teach using this Alfred series as teaching by finger numbers and intervals makes pupils better sight readers and the pieces are all fun. Also big print is so useful and easier to read and the pieces are graded gradually.

Great music. Very useful for beginners. And there are a lot of videos on youtube.
