Lotil Original Cream 114ml/3.8oz (Jar)

This cream really works. Heals those small painful cracks on the sides of your fingers and takes the pain of using your hands away.

You will not see "verified purchase" under my name because I can buy it locally, but I did want to tell people how fantastic this stuff is. When I was a kid I used to watch my dad put clear fingernail polish over the cracks on his fingertips to protect them from the sting of water or cold air. It made me cringe to think of putting chemicals like that on an open, sometimes bleeding, wound. Then I saw Lotil cream in a catalog (remember those?...this was about 40 years ago) and ordered a jar for him. He never needed to put polish on his fingers ever again. He only needed the tiniest dab (about the size of a sesame seed) for each little fingertip crack, so the jar lasted a lonnnng time. Rub it in really well, and repeat after every hand-washing. The scent is barely-there, and it leaves your skin with a clean, natural feel...not greasy or that odd "powdery" feel. If you want to use it over a large area, rather than as a "spot-cure" like my dad, put it on damp or slightly wet skin...this will help it spread more evenly. If, someday, someone develops a drug to relieve common-cold symptoms as well as this stuff relieves dry, cracked skin, they will win a Nobel prize. 5 stars is not a good enough rating.

My Mother used to buy this when I was a kid. I remembered how well it worked on cracked fingers and started looking for it as an adult. I was pleased to eventually find it in specialty type stores, though the price was quite forbidding - and now have been super pleased to find it on Amazon for a great price and without needing to travel miles and miles to get it. I've read some complaints on here about absorption. My husband had the same complaint at first but was quickly won over by how fantastic a job it did on softening the very rough cracked skin on his hands and feet and now cannot stand to be without it. I'm a nurse and am constantly washing my hands, I need a good fingerprint to access the machine that dispenses medications. Gardening in the summer and cold dry weather in the winter really dry out the skin on my hands and heels. Using Lotil on my hands and heels before bed keeps the skin supple and crack free. I tend to not use it throughout the day as a regular lotion - I would do that only if I had a pretty severe cracking problem. I use it nightly as a preventative and I love it. As far as the smell goes - I don't use Lotil to get all dolled up. I use it so that when I do get "all dolled up" my hands and feet can actually look the part!

I first learned about this stuff during a visit to Canada, when I stopped by a pharmacy to get something for my chapped hands. It absorbs almost immediately. That's something I really appreciate since I use lotion several times a day and don't like it when I grab a doorknob and it slips in my hand. :-) This makes a nice, light daytime cream to apply right after washing your hands. Lotil also comes in a tube, which is what I bought in Canada. The stuff in the tube provides a thick layer suitable for protecting your hands outdoors - again, without being sticky! Lotil does smell like lanolin, although it's not that noticeable after it absorbs. I find it to be very pleasant. But if you or a family member is sensitive to fragrance, you may want to try out a small jar first.

Lotil is effective in healing cracked fingertips and the texture is nice. Be warned, however--it has a very strong scent, heavily almond overlaid with something indefinably industrial, like motor oil. The odor is most noticeable when you're applying the cream and then it recedes, but it's definitely not for everyone. If you're sensitive to odors, you might find Lotil offensive. However, it does soothe stressed skin.

Lotilis the best for cracked, dry skin.

I used to work for and then owned a pro-audio rental company and I swear it was the aluminum that was used in the manufacture of the equipment cases that caused my problem with nasty and extremely painful cracks in the ends of my fingers! Lotil is perfect for dealing with this problem.....a small amount, applied often is the way to go! Do NOT use if you're allergic to Lanolin!!

Very effective. Put on night before - next day - like new. Best I have found - heals and soothes w/o being greasy or too smelly. Used it for a long time. Made in England - once - don't know now. Great for dry - rough skin. Recommended.

Having used LOTIL CREAM for many years now I am totally convinced of the efficay of the ingredients. The use of Lanolin I applaud unreservedly if one is not allergic to it.

Recommended to me by a pharmacist when my hands were badly chapped in cold weather. Works wonders.

Esta crema la descubrí en la tienda BOOTS en Inglaterra . Hace unos años se me pelaban las palmas de las manos y no había nada que me las quitase por mucha crema que usaba. Un dependiente del BOOTS me la recomendó y desde entonces no se me pelan las manos!!. Cuando notó que mi piel está seca, es lo que uso en todo el cuerpo. ES UNA PASADA!!. This is by far the best dry skin cream I have ever used - I’ve just purchased my second pot and will never be without it. For years I had a patch of sore, dry, cracked skin on my hand that would not go away, no matter which cream I used, including those recommended by the doctor and the pharmacist. I then remembered Lotil, which I had used many years ago. Within two days of starting to use it, the soreness was easing. Now, after just a few weeks of daily use, it is healed, soft and smooth. Absolutely brilliant cream. My only quibble is that it has a medicinal smell that’s not terribly attractive, but it doesn’t linger and is a small price to pay for such effectiveness.

Does the job that a lot of other creams fail to do. Brilliant on dry, chapped and troubled skin. Nothing else I have tried comes close, excellent stuff.
