Great addition to our Halo Mega Bloks collection
My 9 year old LOVES Halo, and loves legos and mega bloks now. We've been doing a lot of the Halo sets, and I happened to see after Xmas that they had a bunch of them 40 to 60 percent off, so I grabbed a dozen different ones.As with all the megablok Halo sets, it's done very well and looks great. This is an awesome addition after building the Scorpion tank and is a very nice size.I used to dislike the way things were packaged, unlike Lego kits that have bags numbered and used for specific parts of the build... But I found that ultimately I like the lack of organization since now I've showed my 9 year old how to get all the bags open and start sorting out all the parts into piles so everything is organized and easy to find. I think that, for me, is now a bonus since he's getting really good at sorting things, analyzing different parts that have something in common (such as angled pieces of different sizes and shapes going in separate piles but all together so when he needs some angled piece, he knows what part of the floor to look for) and planning how to space them out so the ones he has to get the most often are within arms reach. That to me was like a lightbulb going off, since I was able to turn the negative into a great teaching tool. Especially with the large sets like the Elephant (almost 1300 pieces to sort and organize) and the new Forward Unto Dawn we have (that is almost 2900 pieces). For a 9 year old, having the colored dots showing exactly where each piece fits is great. It helps for the larger sets since it makes it easy to get each section done. He starts out intimidated by the sheer number of pieces, but as he starts he just focuses on a step at a time and has learned that large things are comprised of smaller things, and that if you take big things in small sections, it's not so overwhelming. Always an important lesson for kids to learn. No missing pieces in our set - but they have a great automated system online where you don't even have to talk to anyone to get the piece shipped out, so it couldn't be any easier to get any missing pieces. Everything fit fine - which is something I've had issue with Mega Bloks a few times, where the raised bumps weren't quite formed right and I had to pull out a knife and trim a bit for a piece to snap right. All in all was a steal for my sale price, and we're very happy with this kit. It looks awesome, and he really enjoys blowing his Covenant Phantom out of the sky and letting the good guys win.

Very nice little set from Mega Bloks
I had not had any Mega Bloks sets for a very long time (mid 2000's). Back then most of the sets had cheaper plastic, loose fitting bricks, and the minifigs were pretty bad. When I saw they were doing Halo, I had to pick up a few to see if the quality had improved and I was pleasantly surprised. The minifigs are very well built and sturdier with great articulation. The blocks are a much better fit and might start to give Lego some competition. I still love Lego, but I have to say that Mega Bloks have gotten pretty good. I can do so much more with the Mega Bloks minifigs than I can with my Lego ones. Now to focus on the Cryo Bay set. This is a nice little piece of Halo history that I was surprised to see made into a set. It is not your typical battle terrain, but it is a scene that most gamers have etched in their heads as it was an important moment for the franchise. It did not look like much at first because it is a smaller set of 72 pieces, but it turns out to be a lot of fun for the size. This is also one of the more inexpensive ways to get Master Chief (John 117) and Cortana since they are only in the very expensive TRU ship as of this writing. This Cortana does not have a light up base, but she looks good and is in a decent scale if you want to have your McFarlane figure holding her. She is very thinly attached to a round stud by her legs, so I would be careful removing and attaching her as would be the most likely spot for breakage. She feels a little fragile there. Master Chief is nicely detailed and he has three weapons to choose from: an Assault Rifle, a Battle Rifle, and the new Sticky Detonator. The scene displays well on any Halo shelf and you can have Cortana watching over the sleeping Chief or him thawing out to start Halo 4. As far as price, personally, I would not go too much over retail. This is a set that will be popular if only for the minifigs, even though it's a great set as it is. Keep an eye out for Amazon sellers that may have it for a reasonable price. I only paid around twenty one for it shipped. Would I pay thirty for it? Probably not because there is not enough there to justify that price, but that's just me. I would still keep an eye open because you can find it without breaking the bank, and it is a set you would probably enjoy if you are a Halo fan or collector.

Actually Worth Full Price
I've mostly collected the Mega Construx Halo sets when they showed up at a brick and mortar discount store. I've always found the sets a little over priced, though not nearly as bad as Lego, but this one was a no brainer. First off, hunters. That was far and away my biggest reason for getting it. I played Halo 1 repeatedly and now I have one or more grunts, elites, jackals, and now hunters round out my set. No flood yet, but oh well. Hunters stand about 1.5-2x the height of other characters and look pretty good, not perfect, but good.I also finally got a Master Chief which was nice. His armor is sort of metallic, kind of. Looks great. The Elite is jut remarkable and way better than the nameless ones I had before. Most surprising, I really liked the warthog. I had little interest, but it looks so good and they even got a bouncy independent suspension worked out. How long it lasts depends on how long the rubber pieces hold together, but worst case it'll just sort of sit low and still drive. As another reviewer put it, buy this now. Otherwise, you'd pay way more from 3rd party sellers later on. Heck, Master Chief alone will cost you about $5, so even if you assume $5 a figure (hunters would certainly cost more), the total package is very fairly priced. You also get a bookmark block thing and one of those brick splitter tools, so all in all great set. Thanks for putting all good stuff and not spreading out with unwanted filler items!

Very nice addition to any collection
Great set. I enjoy the details and the battle damage on the warthog, and the details of it. The details and armours for the characters are really well done, and the colours on them are great. My only complaint is the green pieces for the hunter's arm cannon. They are kinda hard to get in because they are square holes for a round item. It's not terrible, but the pieces are a bit jiggly once they are in. The last complaint is that the flamethrower does not include fire. Other than those, the set is terrific and I highly recommend it.
