COVERGIRL Base Business Face Primer, Pore Minimizing 300, 1.01 Ounce

Photo attached is after a day of heat, sweat, and wear. I have oily combination skin with a lot of texture and acne, plus dry patches in some areas from retinoids and acne treatments. I’ve tried a bunch of primers over the years, including more expensive ones like Hourglass and Stila, and this Covergirl Base Business purple primer honestly holds up really well compared to them. It layers nicely over sunscreen and moisturizer without pilling, and it works really well under my foundation (Estée Lauder Double Wear original formula). My makeup goes on smoother and blends out more evenly when I use it, especially compared to when I skip primer entirely. What I like most is how it performs throughout the day. Instead of breaking up or separating, it kind of improves how my skin looks as the day goes on. It gives a subtle smoothing effect at first, and then as my skin gets a bit oilier, everything settles into a more natural glow instead of turning greasy or patchy. It doesn’t completely erase texture, but it does help soften it under foundation, especially in areas that aren’t too dry or irritated. The only real downside for me is the fragrance. It’s noticeable and not my favorite, especially for something going all over the face. Overall, for the price, it honestly competes with some of the higher-end primers I’ve tried. I wouldn’t necessarily say it replaces them completely, but it’s definitely a solid option that performs way above what I expected.

Having been a devoted fan of a particular really good (Smashbox) primer for YEARS, I have decided to branch out & try some more reasonably priced options. And I've tried quite a few, in many price ranges. Cover Girl, you've hit the nail on the head with a low priced, good primer. At just under the $5 range, it provides a smooth surface for makeup application. It's very light weight and comfortable to wear. It's not cakey & feels very much like applying a moisturizer. Observation 1: I have to use more of this than I do my normal primer. Not excessively more, but definitely more than the dime sized amount I was used to using. Observation 2: Water based & silicon/oil based primers are different. Your foundation ingredients must mesh with your primer ingredients. This primer is no different. It works much better under a tinted moisturizer or CC/BB cream. The results when using under a more substantial, full coverage foundation were not good. I had to remove it & start from scratch with a silicon based primer. Again, ingredients of each are important. I knew better and it's no fault of the primer...100% user error. I have worn this alone, with no makeup and it helps to even & smooth small imperfections. It has pretty good lasting power too. Be prepared for a touch up if you are a "wear all day & into the night" make up person. Conclusion: For an everyday, go-to primer, this one CG is an excellent & very affordable choice.

This primer is good enough, and it works well under Cover Girl TruBlend Matte foundation.

I was hesitant to spend this much on a primer, but I do believe this is worth it, and it should last me for quite a while, as it only takes a pea-sized amount to cover your entire face and upper neck. I love the smell of this stuff - very fresh and clean. The feel is also very pleasant - silky, smooth, and not gritty at all. While it's white-colored, it rubs in transparently and can't be seen. It leaves my skin extremely soft and smooth, and make-up sits great on it. I definitely notice a difference in how long my make-up lasts when I wear this, versus when I don't. It lasts longer, doesn't shift as much, and doesn't get as oily as fast either (I have very oily skin). I also appreciate the added charcoal to help with acne. Despite flinching at the cost, I'm happy with this product.

My favorite primer that I’ve ever tried. This stuff is like magic and works great!

I ran out of my usual neutralizer. It was getting pretty expensive so I decided to try this instead. I've used a lot of green neutralizers in the past and I would say that this is about as good as most of those. It's not great though. It does make a difference, but it's thin and doesn't cover extremely well. I think this is best suited as a general primer to even out skin that is reddish naturally. It is not good for covering blemishes specifically. I'll be going back to my old stuff once this is gone.

Love this stuff!!! My face is always very red, and splotchy. I put this over my face primer, it totally evens out my skin, and gets rid of the redness. It eliminates my need to wear thick foundation. Lightweight and stays on all day. Not greasy either.

i have natural red undertones and tend to blush a lot without meaning to, so i went with this green color, oh and to cover hickeys, but aside from that this actually protects your skin very nicely from letting the makeup get your pores dirty, i love it !! and i’ll definitely get this again when i run out

La verdad no me convenció del todo. No tengo tanta rojez en la cara y aun así no logra neutralizarlo, siendo que lo compré con ese propósito. Se siente como usar cualquier primer hidratante. Ojo: Tiene un aroma bastante fuerte y persistente (en mi opinión). No es nada desagradable, pero si no te gustan los productos faciales con olor, no lo recomiendo.

I'm torn between a 4 or 5 stars. Does it work? Yes, it does. No matter if you want to go no makeup or full face makeup, either way it really gives this mattifying effect for hours. Just allow it to dry for 2-3 mins before applying any makeup This cream is worth it. What bothers me? It came with no box and no seal, just in a bubble wrap plastic. Kind of make you wonder, right?
