TROND Floor Lamp, Modular 71 in Tall Pole Light, 3000K Warm White Light

I bought this lamp about 5 years ago and loved it. It's solidly built, one of the brightest I could find, and the fact that there's no cord connecting the pole sections means it's super easy to assemble AND I could take out a section and put the lamp on top of a credenza when I bought one. But sure enough – as other reviewers have noted – around year 5, the lamp started flickering and the brightness dimmed. I was bummed but I decided 5 years wasn't a bad lifespan and so I bought the lamp again. The new lamp arrived yesterday (same unit but bought a diff color this time). Works as expected. Great. Here's the interesting part. This morning, out of curiosity, I plugged the old lamp into the new power supply. Viola! The old lamp worked fine; no flickering and full brightness. It's been running fine all day. So, it appears that it's the power supply that goes after 5 years and not the lamp. I haven't found a suitable replacement for the power supply (photo attached) on Amazon yet but similar ones go for less than 15 bucks. UPDATE Two weeks later and the old lamp is still running perfectly using the new power supply. So it was definitely the power supply that failed at year 5 and not the lamp.

I bought this light because, at 5000 lumens, it was the brightest I found on Amazon. And the 3000K color temperature is a pleasing color. I bought it to replace a 300W halogen torchiere, which is also rated at 5200 lumens and 3000K color temperature, so I would expect the output from the two lamps to be the same. Admittedly I don't have the tools necessary to measure the lumens or color, but it clearly does not put out the same brightness and color. It feels significantly dimmer and cooler (though the cooler may be my perception due to the lower lumens). In the attached pictures, the 1st show just this lamp on, and the 2nd shows just the halogen lamp on. Note how much dimmer the 1st is than the 2nd; I swapped positions of the lamps in case it changed anything, but got the same results. I like that the poles have the wiring/connectors built in so I didn't have to fiddle around fishing cords through the tubes. The tubes fit together well (I wondered after seeing some competitors where the poles had a poor fit) and it looks fine, if a bit wimpy. The lamps are the same height, but this lamp is just 8.4 pounds compared to my old lamp that is 14.2 pounds and feels substantial. The base and top are about 9 inches, compared to almost 13 inches on my old lamp; and the pole is 1.0 inches compared to the old 1.5 inches. All in all, it just doesn't look or feel very substantial. Not as important as the light output, but it contributes to (or detracts from) my level of satisfaction. Overall, not what I expected. It is not really a satisfactory replacement for my old halogen torchiere. The only respect in which it is better (or even comparable) is that it consumes 30 watts instead of 300. watts. I was hoping I would love it and was going to buy another one for the other room, but I think I'll keep looking.

I always loved those 300-500W old halogen torchieres. Unfortunately, they don't make them any more. One problem with them was that you had to worry about them getting very hot and if they tipped over, possibly starting a fire. This lamp is bright, but cool to the touch. Very efficient with a bulb that should last many years. Although it doesn't have a continuous dimming adjustment, it does have several levels of dimming, which is fine. It also has a 30 minute timer for shutting off, which I don't use, but some people may want that feature. The quality of the light is very good, especially if you like indirect lighting. I chose this lamp because it is taller than most. (I hate seeing the direct light, so I needed something taller than my eyes). I have tall ceilings, and the indirect light that I get with this lamp is excellent. You can tilt the direction of the bulb toward the wall, which is very nice. It is incredibly easy to assemble, much faster and easier than the old halogen bulb lamps that had a cord snaking through the individual tubes. The lamp is adjustable in height in the sense that you do not need to use all the tubes. So you can make the lamp shorter if you like. I wish they would sell individual tubes separately because I could make the lamp one tube taller, which would be great for my high ceilings. If you are looking at the family of floor lamps, I highly recommend this one for the quality of the build, the brightness of the bulb, and several of its features. It's also a good value!

Update: I have bought 3 of these lamps. The second one, I got more than a year ago. It had a minor defect in the way the base was assembled, which I fixed. However, that lamp got knocked over accidentally, and my "fix" broke in a way that could not be redone. I wrote to Trond customer service and asked if I could buy a replacement base - more than a year later. They asked for a photo, and immediately sent me a replacement base for free since the original had had a defect. This is really outstanding customer service! There are less expensive lamps of this design, but Trond's is nice, well built (never mind that defect), and they really did stand by their product. I'm impressed. This is great example of getting what you paid for. Thanks! ------ I like the brightness, the dimmer, and timer features. It is great how this assembles without having to string a wire through the segments. Only complaint, the lamp head is a bit loose/ floppy. Likely to buy another of these. Update: I bought another of these. They are really very nice, I like the dimming feature and I have found, to my surprise, that I also use the "timed turn-off" which shuts the light off a bit in the future instead of right now. I think this lamp delivers exactly what was promised.

When it comes to torchiere lamps I'm used to the cheap sub-$20 versions from stores like Target. I wanted a bit more brightness and something that looked a little sleeker so I paid the premium to get this lamp and, I have to say, you get what you pay for. First of all there is no cord that runs from the base up to the head of the lamp. Each segment of the stand has a built-in connector that automatically makes an electrical connection when you screw them together. It took no time at all and no frustration to get this thing together. Second the base is not thick but is extremely weighty and sturdy. I am not concerned about this thing tipping over at all. Lastly the brightness is pretty good as well as the dimming range. For my home office which is 11ft by 15ft, I could probably use two of these to get the brightness I want, but I use it in conjunction with the overhead light so it works out fine. I could probably get a bit more light out of it if I angled the head differently and placed a little bit more squarely in the corner. I don't think any other torchiere light would be any different. Overall, great quality and a solid buy.

Very sleek design. Dead simple to assemble (took me maybe 5 minutes from time I started opening the box). The base/head and poles are all very small diameter, I actually wish they were a bit larger, but it definitely disappears into the room. And, most importantly, I compared it side-by-side with my old 300W Halogen and it was actually a bit brighter! The halogen bulb isn't brand new, so maybe it's not quite a true comparison, but the halogen bulb I have is still burning brightly so close enough. I'm impressed. Some negatives: 1) The finish on the poles is not consistent. The pole with the power adapter and the pole with the touch-sensitive switches are the same darker black, and the other two poles are a lighter shade. Maybe the poles with the additional hardware are finished in a separate place? It's not very noticeable, however. 2) The touch sensitive switches don't work all that great. They are hard to locate (blend into the pole to well), and often require multiple touches. Some touch sensitive switches work great, but I'd prefer actual mechanical switches to how these work. 3) Lowest dim level isn't all that low. And only 5 settings. But then again who wants to tap on a switch more than 5 times? 4) The adjustable tilting head is rather loose, even after tightening the collar quite tight. But, considering it's using 1/10 the power and eliminates the fire hazard, this 5000 lumen LED lamp is a great choice to replace that old 300W Halogen torchiere lamp. I'll probably buy another when it becomes available in white.

The lamp is very bright and fills the room. It's tall enough to not catch your eye directly when in the room. Its very thin, but the base seems solid and the cats haven't knocked it over yet. Will buy another if it survives. Less than 1 year and all it does is constantly flicker. It's to annoying to use.. will not be buying another

I have been looking to replace a bulky Florescent Torchiere Lamp for a while. I finally settled on this lamp. And was not disappointed. I would say it took me about 10-15 minutes from box opening to having it all assembled. No wires to fuss with, simply screw the threaded tubes together then attach the base and top. It is very sturdy in spite of the lightweight appearance. The touch switch being integrated into the top tube is a nice feature. A nice heavy base with large no skld pads (each in the shape of a bare foot) generously placed on it make it difficult at best to slide if placed on hard surface flooring also the base is thin enough to place under the edge of a small shelf that I have beside my TV stand. The dimming feature is very nice responding to a very light touch. The soft blue back light on the touch switch makes it easy to find In the dark. If you have it connected to an outlet with a wall switch there is a delay in it turning on up to at most 4-5 seconds. I do not see this as an issue since I could simply leave the wall switch on and use the switch on the lamp if I chose too. The light it gives is warm the highest setting is brighter than I thought it would be, but that is not a complaint I generally have it dimmed down a couple of settings but it is nice to know I have the extra light if needed. Because nothing is perfect. The 2 downsides that I can see are.... 1.) It has a somewhat large(ish) transformer on the wall plug. Which makes it difficult because you can only use it on a bottom plug of an outlet or you lose the entire outlet overall. I solved this problem with the addition of a short extension cord. And.... 2.) The lamp head itself is tiltable to create a "flood effect" on a wall if desired(I am assuming). It took a little "futzing" with to get it straight but has not moved since. Over all I am very pleased with the look and the performance of this lamp and I will be purchasing another one in the near future. Update...... I purchased my second lamp in april this year. And now I am looking to purchase a third. It really is a great lamp.

Sturdy and serves it purpose. Does not have the various light types (3000/6000/etc.), but those were at a higher price point. The Floor lamps are great - we got 3 of them. Low wattage means you can add them up to boost the actual lumens available in a room. I am sure the tilt and pan movement of the lamps is used and appreciated by many; We were perfectly happy with their standard upward facing position.

I was impressed with the quality of the product. The lamp post is super thick and sturdy, yet remains elegant; the light is very bright with a few possible dim setup, it's perfect in nearly all aspects I was looking for. Even the packaging was impressive, it's directly packaged by the producer and you can tell how much care goes into it. Only negative, as far as I am concerned, is the blue led inside the "on" button, which gives up way too much blue light during the night, so I ended up hiding it with a piece of duct tape.

This light has a modern look to it and I got the 3000k warm light. The light came in a small box which surprised me. It was very well packaged from the factory. It was delivered in a good package. Fast delivery. Instructions are easy to follow. What was unique is that there is no cord running through the poles. The base is heavy and so is the dome light. Very sturdy light the manufactors really put thought into the design of this light. It is very easy to setup. Like others have said the blue light is always on when light is off. But I don't mind it. Using the light in a living room that is dark and no overhead lighting. During the day the sun through the patio doors produce more light. In the evening the light only does a portion of the living room. So ordered another to compensate the other half of the room. The dome gets pretty warm for LEDs so make sure you adjust the light the way you want it before turning it on for a while if you need to adjust. The light does have a brightness that I feel is nice for those that can not stand a super bright light. At max it is comparable to my 60 watt bulb table lamp without the shade. The light will diffuse a warm soft lighting off the wall when placed in the corner of a room when you slightly angle it off the wall that is white. This light be good for a much smaller room size than what I have. Perfect for a 10x10 room which is why I ordered a second one. I can not comment on the life of this light. But if the manufactor put thought into the construction. I will give another review if there is any other issues. Hence minus one star. I cannot comment on the seller as I have no need to contact. But as far as I can tell the product is described as stated. For the price it could be a little lower in the 80 range. But given the quality and little time used I guess will see if it was worth the price over time.

This lamp (3000K) gives a uniform warm white ceiling to my living room. It’s the bright enough and the perfect replacement for my old power hungry 300w halogen ceiling lamp. The maximum brightness only consumes 50w and is on par with the old halogen lamp. It memorizes the latest dim setting if you turn off using the built-in switch. It’s also compatible with smart switches, although you will lose the memory capability because turning it on through a smart switch will automatically set it to maximum brigthness A couple negatives include the fact that there is a blue indicator light that is on at all times. This is visible in the dark and could be annoying to some people. Also it’s not a sturdy design due to its modular design making it a light on the bottom, and so it is easy to sway especially when things bump into it accidentally. The non-sturdy design is not a deal breaker as long as it usually sits in the corner of a room anways away from things. Overall very satisfied with this lamp, and definitely recommend it! 9.5/10

Works really great. The light is bright enough to light up a small room by spreading the light on the ceiling. I got the warm white (vs the daylight) as it's better for a home/relaxing setup. The daylight would be good for a work/study environment. There are 5 levels of brightness but the differences are not that noticeable that having 3 settings would be sufficient. Very sturdy build and amazingly easy to assemble. Having the interconnected rods without a cable is really useful. The touch controls work really well. The power switch has a permanent blue light so it's easy to find in the dark and it's not that annoyingly bright. It will remember the last brightness setting if you use the switch to turn it on and off. In my case, I use a TP-Link Smart Plug connected to Alexa so using voice command I can turn off / turn on the lamp. With this setup, it will always turn on at the brightest level. Works for my purposes. CONS? Placement is important as the it is a completely open light (unlike usual domed floor lamps). When I put it behind my living room, I can see the light on the TV screen and it generates some glare with a rainbow effect on the TV.
