Perfect for all different skills/interests
This is my most favorite purchase from Amazon. The hardware works well out of the box and is simple to get up and running. You can do limited operations with the button on the front, but you need a phone and the app to really unlock the features. It connects via Bluetooth, not WiFi. You can select different "channels" to display and the device will stay on that channel even if you walk out of Bluetooth range. The clock channel can show just a clock (in various formats) or cycle between a few options (weather, date, etc.). There is a deep and ever-growing userbase that uploads custom art and animations, predominantly in 16x16 format since that is what can be displayed by most Divoom devices. So many interests are represented. If there's something missing from pop culture, chances are someone will upload it soon and many of the top artists seem receptive to requests or ideas. The art is moderated into different channels and there is a search option that will parse the titles used by the artists during the upload, and any hashtags they may have added. There is a vast collection already uploaded and you can click to display a given item onto the device. Alternatively, you can select multiple custom pieces and download them to your device so they will loop even when your phone leaves Bluetooth range. You can not make new clock designs, but you can make animations that will respond to sound (I believe limited to animation speed at the moment). It is also possible to import into the app so if you have a different pixel art software, you can do everything there and then still get it onto your device. (I have been doing this lately as the in-app tools are perfectly functional but not as feature-rich as some other art apps). The hardware itself is already 5-star. The "pixels" have an awesome look to them and they can display a huge range of colors. Although the app is moderately overwhelming at first, after messing around for 10 minutes or so you will have a handle for how it all works. The Divoom team is wonderful. They moderate extremely well, I have never seen questionable content and at least in its current state of moderation, I would have no concerns with children viewing the library of user-uploaded content. It appears that all new designs are approved by a moderator team before other users can see them. The Divoom team also posts seasonal contests and are extremely supportive of new users. Likewise, I have found other artists to be positive and helpful in the comments on animations and through direct messages. The Divoom team periodically picks top animations and puts them in a special "recommended" tab, where you can really find some mind-blowing designs. Some of the animators that contribute are absolutely amazing artists. Lastly, the Divoom team seems to be constantly updating and adding features. The lineup of devices seems to be steadily growing as well. I highly recommend this device if you are at all interested in a pixel display!

AMAZING Digital Frame!
I absolutely love this Pixoo digital frame so much! It not only looks amazing on my desk but it is so customizable. There are so many designs on the app (really cute ones too!) and you can create your own and see it on the device in real-time (as you are drawing). I can see my favorite cartoon characters and animals and have them change at different parts of the day which is incredible. I put some pictures of it during the day and some at night and honestly it looks great at all times. Additionally, the app works perfectly--I can just search for whatever image (say Hello Kitty for example) and in milliseconds it can appear on the Pixoo. It honestly brings me so much joy to look at, especially when I am working! It is also pretty big which adds to the value and the lights look amazing at night (and during the day too)! It can also be an aesthetic clock ( see image for reference) and you can customize the colors of the clock too! My favorite color is pink/purple so I made that the color but you can totally customize it to whatever color you would like. It is literally an all in one and now I don't need to buy a separate clock because a super pretty one is already built in the digital frame. I appreciate the fact that it has a USB-C charger which is the same for my tablet and laptop so I don't need multiple chargers on my desk, making it look very minimalistic. Speaking of charging, it charges remarkably quickly and the battery lasts so long on one charge. In the manual, it says that it is supposed to last like 6 hours or something but I have been testing it and it lasts HOURS longer with continuous use! So it is basically never a hassle to charge and it is so aesthetic. In my opinion, it would make a great gift for all ages, even if they are not into tech products. This is because you can literally display anything you want on it or you can make your own pixel creation. Overall, it is extremely good quality and well made! Super impressed and love the custom options to truly personalize it. I would HIGHLY recommend it!

Great Addition to the Desk
I've used the Pixoo frame for about a week. While when I purchased it, I intended to hang it on the wall in our dining room (perfectly suited for this, back has mounting points and wire routing) it found its home on my desk in the office instead. Its been a nice clock and a fun visual to play with for all the video meetings lately. I've setup our company logo for a more professional look when needed and played with the more comical options available on the user gallery in the app for internal meetings. Very vibrant colors and options to dim and change settings mean you can dial in what you want well. The app is really your primary point of interaction with the frame. In the very beginning it can be a bit daunting to use (there are a lot of options and a number of choices and functions to go through) but after a few minutes learning curve, it's fairly intuitive. Would definitely recommend as either an accent piece to hang on the wall or a desktop addition. There is a battery if you wanted to use it in a more temporary spot (maybe move it around for a party or something?) I had it on battery while setting it up and for the first night, lasted through the night into the next day without issue. Either way, it looks good, functions well, and I enjoy it. Would recommend.

Fun frame. I dont get long battery life.
I didnt pick up at first that it had a battery. I was thinking it was always needed to be plugged in but I was excited to see i could disconnect the cable. The problem is im not getting long battery life at all. There are settings for it to turn off or save some power but they didnt seem to help much. The app has some features but I havnt been able to figure out how to change the preset pictures that come by default. I used this around the holiday as like a seasonal decoration. Overall though its a fun little picture frame and when guests are over I like changing the pixel art to something they like. I struggle using it daily unless you leave it plugged in full time.

INCREDIBLE VALUE!!!
This device is AMAZING and the value for money is super-high. If you've gone around the web looking for a similar piece of tech, you'll find these only in DIY format. The parts alone are $150 PLUS! Kickstarters and small time makers have sold similar devices for $250! It's really a shame that at the time I write this, the most helpful voted review is a 1 star review! That guy just doesn't get it. There's no chance this product deserves such a low rating. I admire and appreciate Divoom for releasing this niche product and wish them much success. The build quality is fantastic, the moment you remove this from the packing you will appreciate the premium quality. They did not cut corners. The app itself does take some getting used to, and it could use improvement. Yes.. I agree. BUT.. it does a lot of things VERY WELL. I must mention that the sheer amount of pixel art and animations available through the app is ASTOUNDING. This is likely the largest collection of 16x16 pixel art/animations you can find anywhere... and more user content is added every day. There are thousands of animations/pics available, and it has a search function. You can follow/subscribe to your favorite creators similar to a youtube channel. Nifty! I HIGHLY RECOMMEND that you download the Divoom app RIGHT NOW and check them out for yourself. You can see them all and play with them without having a device. Cool! DO IT! There is amazing content! (if you're into pixel art) There are tons of features in the app.. the biggest shortcoming to me is the lack of "playlists". (Unless I missed something!) You can view any art/animations you want at the tap of finger on your phone, it instantly plays on the Pixoo. Neat. But.. I want the ability to create playlists that will loop. Let's say I have 15 Super Mario themed animations I want running in a loop. I want to be able to make a playlist to play those in a loop. The software does allow me to upload 12 animations easily into the Pixoo's memory. You can turn it on, press a few buttons, and it will play them without involving your phone whatsoever. That's great. But that's quite limited. I want to be able to make that unlimited, even if it uses the app and the phone needs to be nearby. Some complain about the battery life of 6 hours. To me the fact that it has a battery at all is just a bonus! This does have a USB port. You can leave it plugged in 24/7 if you want. WiFi AND bluetooth would be great. This device currently supports bluetooth. This was clearly designed with portability in mind, but not all of us want it for that. Many of us won't move this at all. What I REALLY want.. is this to integrate with IFTTT or in some other manner allow me to integrate into my smart home. Think google/alexa voice control as an example.. I want to have several Pixoos and create cool art scenes by voice command. "Alexa, turn on Super Mario art". I want to be able to stream random animations. I want to have total control over what is playing, and when. This might all actually be possible even with this device as-is.. but not for the average user. Advanced nerding-out here: I did find some python source code on github that will connect to a Divoom device, open bluetooth communcation, and transmit images/animations for viewing.. all without the app. With a bit of work, this could be the answer. My raspberry pi 3b has bluetooth support. I can probably get all of this work with my raspberry pi and some custom code, and integrate that into my smart home. I wish Divoom would make this possible out of the box. That would be incredible. No doubt, tech people will open this device up and hack the hardware to do whatever they want.. even a WiFi connection. This is cheaper than the do-it-yourself cost to build one from scratch, so why not?? I've given this 5 stars despite the shortcomings, because once again... the value is tremendous!

Nice product but has issues
I think this is a cool product but there are some things to know. First, if you use anything higher than 8 bit animations it will look pretty bad. Think of the original NES animations, those should be fine. Anything SNES and up will look pretty bad. Also, the software is not very intuitive and will be annoying and will also need some getting used to. My main issue with the product is it will turn itself off randomly. I have it plugged in and set it to never auto turn off in the app but it will still randomly turn off. When it does that I have to turn it back on then resync all my saved animations every time. I had it less than a week and I can imagine more issues down the line. Nice idea for a product but definitely needs more tuning/quality control.

PIXOO packs tons of functionality in this aesthetic device
PIXOO is an excellent way to exercise creativity. After unboxing the PIXOO, the simple to use instructions got me going. The battery was already charged, and the app was easy to install. Divoom did a magnificent job appealing to a diverse audience. Creatives, gadget lovers, kids, adults, professionals, and just about anybody can enjoy this device. The beauty is that it’s aesthetically pleasing and functional, too. It has an alarm, displays local weather, has a planner, a calendar, a stopwatch, displays notifications, and a countdown meter and so much more. Many of these will be useful as I have clients and a busy schedule. There are many ways to display this sleek black matte square frame, too. It comes with a stand arm, has a hanging slot to hang on a wall, and it’s even stable enough to stand on its own., I like it standing next to my screen. I can already see how PIXOO is an innovative tool that can assist me manage my time and help keep the creativity flowing. I recommend this product to creatives, people who enjoy learning, and those who like cool things. Note: The PIXOO is not an audio box. It has three little holes that gives basic alert sounds. For the audio equivalent, check out the Divoom Timebox Evo.

Awesome!
This was purchased since I naturally wanted a pixel display - one which would also give me social media notifications, but I wasn't prepared to shell out £170 for the LaMetric Time. I opted for the black frame version, since I don't see the point of a frame if it's going to blend in with a white wall. The 16 x 16 (256) pixel display is bright and vibrant. Colours are distinct with no fading or similarities. Each pixel tend to be more bright towards the center which only lends towards the looks. After downloading the Divoom app, I switched on the unit to be greeted by a Bluetooth logo which signified that it was listening for a connection. I tapped 'Connect' in the app and the unit was detected immediately. Clicking one of the animated pictures on my iPad display it was immediately cast onto the Pixoo display. It looked (and looks) great! Some of the animations don't simply feature a colour per pixel. There are fantastic looking blended colours available through the app which give a great sense of ambience to the room called 'VJ Effects'. There's a whole range of animations and features to choose from including Divoom presets and a constantly updated user gallery on the cloud in which people develop and submit their own still images and animations. Of course, you can do the same! The editor is intuitive and user friendly. Though I haven't finished an animation, a friend of mine has and he achieved a great end result animating a rise above a cityscape. Some user animations are very creative and some hilarious. There's a whole range of features too including: Chat, Alarm, Countdown, Planner, Game, Noise Meter, Scoreboard, Notifications, Weather, Celebration Days and DJ mixer. Though this particular unit doesn't feature a speaker in it, the sound in some features simply emanates from your tablet or phone. The unit does feature a microphone however, so you can take advantage of the 'Vizualizer' animations in which faces move in sync with the sound, a woman dances, or traditional equalizer bars move. There's also a range of abstract equalizers - vertical and horizontal. The display can be used as a simple light too of any colour. This essentially means that every single pixel is coloured the same, so it radiates a single colour of your choice. You can also adjust the brightness level for this feature. There's an option to display a digital clock too and this occasionally flips into a the temperature and weather which is read in from a live forecast site for your location after you enable GPS in setting on your device. The weight of the unit isn't too heavy, nor too light. Build quality is reasonable. The unit runs from a charge, though I only had mine hung on the wall without being plugged into USB for a day until my white (to match wall) USB cable came in the post. Though it's not very aesthetic in contrast to running from the battery, I like to know that it's always going to be powered up. In comparison to the Lametric Time, which is only coloured on a quarter of the display on the left (the rest being white pixels only for text), this is an absolute steal. On that note, this unit also gives social media alerts in a similar fashion to the Lametric Time. After entering your usernames in the app for each social media account, if someone follows you on Twitter or Facebook etc, it will flash up the logo of the corresponding social media platform. This is a great feature, though the visual alert is very quick (1-2 seconds), so I often miss it. This unit doesn't keep track of the numbers of Followers etc, which is a unique feature of the Lametric Time, which also alerts audibly. Nonetheless, this unit represents awesome value for money. It really helps to spice up your room and what's more, thanks to the features in the app, it's entirely functional. I liked mined so much in the first hour, I jumped back onto Amazon to purchase one for my friend as a surprise gift.....and it was well received! Get one!
