Skar Audio SDR-8 D4 8" 700 Watt Max Power Dual 4 Ohm Car Subwoofer

Using this subwoofer in my home car audio system and honestly it performs better than I expected for an 8 inch sub. The bass is deep, clean, and hits surprisingly hard in the right enclosure. So initially i had 2 kickers comp r 8 inch under the seat of chevy crew cab, not happy with them from day one, not much low end bass and everytime i push them above 300w they start smelling like burning in just few min, well im soo happy now with these Skar, no joke, such a difference, i didnt expected. I can feel that bass and i can really push the amp now to the limits at around 700 watts. Im replacing also the amp with Skar. I cannot believe for the price and its not super branded like Kicker. I think in the future i will stick with Skar and probably upgrade later to the EVL series as i heard great stuff about them. Hope they will last.

I like 8s. In the 90s I had two 8W6s, in the early 2000s I had an IDQ 8, and this Skar replaced a CDT QES-820 DVC. Not really replaced, per se, but the price was low enough that I wanted to try a relatively inexpensive "banger sub" to see what it sounded like. 2010 Ford Focus, totally sealed (sound proofed) rear deck and trunk. In 0.3ft^3 sealed and 0.6ft^3 ported, tuned to 35hz, the CDT just didn't get loud enough through the rear seats. The Skar utterly slams in the same ported box. Sounds great in 0.3ft^3 sealed, but less output as one would expect. With the back seat down, the Skar shakes the front seat on 500w at 36Hz and then again around 50hz. With the back seat up, I still get very satisfying volume that does not overpower my front stage. I do get muddy bass on a few select songs, however I am going to be experimenting with port length and turning freq to see where the sweet spot is for this sub. I am also going to seal the port and pack the box with fiberfill to give sealed 0.6Ft^3 +/- a shot as well. The magnet is half the size of the CDT, more or less, and my amp is now seeing a load that allows it to produce its maximum rated power. So, many variable to consider here, but overall this sub is a champ given the cost. Will update the review in time with more thoughts and experience.

Great sound quality, solid amount of power from these little guys. Paired it with a sundown sfb 1000. Pounds the wife’s Escalade like you wouldn’t believe!

I didn't know the bass plays such an important role in music! I switched from Kicker to Scar and recommend everyone to do so 😈
