Knightsbridge ST6ABK 6A DP Inline Cord Switch, Black

Used on bedside lamp cable that had an existing rocker switch but it was sealed and needed to extend the length. These were fitted to longer length and work well. Opted for black to suit cable. Very good quality for small price.

These are well made and conform to their rating. They are rated at 6 amps and can just manage 0.75mm flexible cable. They have reversible cable clamps and female screw terminals. I have just wired two of them with 0.75mm cloth covered cable, one modern double sheathed and fatter, one vintage. They are two pole isolating switches, ideal for vintage toasters and things with accessible live parts. (which of course, should not exist!). They have earth feed through. No sign of overheating with 2A current: I do wonder if 6A might be. little ambitious. They are small and quite fiddly to wire: the secret is to get every wire exactly the right length and stripped precisely. Those two pictured took me 90 minutes in total, but I did have to use heat shrink sleeving to avoid the fabric covers from unravelling. They do the job well, are small and neat and well designed, but you do have to be very careful and very patient!

Bought this to repair a lamp. It's nice to use and has a good positive feel in operation. It was however a bit of a struggle to fit, then again you only fit it once but you use a lot, so it's a reasonable trade off as between wire tension management, terminals that stay connected, and positive operation its hard to make a quality, compact switch without it being a bit fiddly to fit.

Whilst on a tour of the SW of France I wanted to recharge our phones, cameras, computers etc in the places we stayed. Some only had two pin electrical outlets. Back at home I had a lead with a two pin plug which had been on a table lamp which I could fit with a double socket. However, it only had a single pole switch so if you put the plug into the wall socket the "wrong way" round the attached sockets and the plugged in equipment would still be live even when the switch was off. Thus I was looking for a double pole inline cord switch which seemed to be quite rare. Many offerings didn't make it clear how many poles they had. I finally came upon this one. It is a quality product, well priced and genuinely a double pole switch. Should you be wanting to switch a 3 core cable the built in earth connector is a real bonus.

I used this in line switch to replace a faulty one on a desk top lamp. The new one was of a much better quality than the existing switch. The switch was compact and beautifully engineered with clamps each end of it to secure the cable and and a small connector block to join the earth wires. The switch mechanism was firmly secured to the body of the switch with 2 screws unlike the old switch which of a flimsy construction. I've bought other items before from knightsbridge and always found they have supplied a quality product

My ageing 90s Hi-Fi switch has been failing randomly turning off etc and no amount of contact cleaner was working and couldn't find the replacement part. So I ended up bypassing the system power switch so it is always on and bought this inline switch for power on and off. The switch is well made and was easy to install on the power cable for the Hi-Fi. I recommend measuring & cutting cables and stripping the ends before clamping down as it can be a little fiddly if you have one side connected then have to work on the other given you have less movement available. Great for low Amp devices like lamps & HI-FI's etc - always check power/amps requirements before doing something like this as if requirements are to high switch would become dangerous.

This is 2nd purchase of this switch and find it fiddly to wire up. On opening up the switch I found a screw loose for one of the terminals. However, once inserted wires into terminals with a tight fit, screwed switch together, all worked fine.

A little bit fiddly as small parts. I bought it for my lamp that didn't have a switch and it wasn't been used as it was a faf to pull the draws out to get to the wall socket. Now it is used daily.

Ces interrupteurs sont solides et bien construit. Ils disposent de connecteurs a vis pour 3 fils (phase, neutre et terre, mais seuls les fils phase et neutre sont interrompus). les fils sont correctement maintenus à l'arrivée et au départ de l'interrupteur par des petits cavaliers fixés chacun avec 2 vis.

Installé en 10 minutes avec un tournevis et un dénudeur sur le câble d'une paire d'enceintes qui grisaille car pas de bouton d'arrêt. Je peux maintenant les éteindre sans entendre les accumulateurs vibrer !
