What size is the mouse plate?

18 x 16cm. I don’t use mine as I work on a laptop.

Does this stand have a cooling fan? Does it work well?

Yes it does, it is very quiet and has stopped my laptop's internal fan coming on completely. In the early days there was a bit of a "new plastic" smell when the fan was on - not sure if it was the fan itself or the plastic on the base of the laptop, but it lasted about two weeks and hasn't been a problem since. The captive cable has a USB-A connector and can be routed to either side of the stand, or the back (or even front). I'm a big fan (no pun intended) and would highly recommend this product, even though it does move a little under normal use.

What is the width between the legs will it allow for larger laps?

the inside measurement is 21" or 53cm when deployed. I bought the stand so I could fully use my tabletop (working space) and have the laptop computer available in effect having a 2 tire configuration. It works well for me, giving the extra space in my study I need and has removed the need for a separate table for the computer! The useable area to hold a lap top is 18" or 45.5cm. You could fit a 19" laptop on the stand but it would not be as stable and could slip if you had too much of an angle
