No one is better poised to write the biography of James Herriot than the son who worked alongside him in the Yorkshire veterinary practice when Herriot became an internationally bestselling author. Now, in this warm and poignant biography, Jim Wight ventures beyond his father's life as a veterinarian to reveal the man behind the stories--the private individual who refused to allow fame and wealth to interfere with his practice or his family. With access to all of his father's papers, correspondence, manuscripts, and photographs--and intimate recollections of the farmers, locals, and friends who populate the James Herriot books--only Jim Wight could write this definitive biography of the man who was not only his father but his best friend. Poor quality of paper and print of book. Not worth the price.
I bought the book after reading a book review and I badly wanted to read a biography of my now favorite author.. Deeply disappointed at the quality of the print and paper.. I expected the photos to be on glossy paper, but it is on cheap paper and the photos are so dark and smudged like when we take prints on our home printers with new ink cartridge.. ☹️😔... For around 800 rupees, the quality of the book could be better.

The joy of reading robbed by poor print quality
Was looking forward to an interesting read about a favourite author. However, deeply disappointed when the book arrived. From at the quality of the print and paper, it looks like a photocopy or counterfeit. The paper is cheap quality, and the photos are dark and blurry. This is totally unacceptable for a book that costs around 800 rupees.

Anything to do with James Herriot must be a win win.
As a child in the 1950s, I used to watch veterinary movies at lunch time in school which I found very interesting and would Loved to have been a vet but l was never educated to that degree.

Ebenso findet man unveröffentlichtes Material.

Smashing book
Loved the books and later the TV programme great drama from the BBC (before they went all PC and based most drama in London and the home counties) This is a great book, tells you all about the man and gives an insight into his real life. Great read for his fans, Lovely man, still bringing joy to people with his fantastic writing, honesty, and wonderful characters.
