I have followed Warren Haynes over many years , with The Allman Brothers Band and Govt Mule and I am convinced this man is in the same bracket as the Late Stevie Ray Vaughan and Joe Bonamassa as a guitar player and songwriter. This solo album is absolutely Stunning . Go and Spend a Tenner and you wont regret your investment. Simply one of his Best. Been very fortunate to have seen the man in action several times with Govt Mule ( seen them last year in Birmingham ) and I cant wait for the next tour in the UK

The passion in each song is obvious throughout the album. From the off beat sound of ‘Blue Radio’ to the hair on your neck raising ‘Tattoos & Cigarettes’ this is a must have album

Obviously a standout bloke and a class muso! This record is not a million miles away from what you would expect to hear on a ‘Gov’t Mule’ album and is not too far away from the likes of ‘Kenny Wayne Shepherd’, ‘Joey B.’ and the like. While the guitar-breaks are great, the overall feel of the CD is more one of melodic soft rock rather than that of the blues or hard driving rock. This is a record for when you are in a mellow mood and is good value at almost 66 ¼ mins.

1 of the best albums I haver bought, into my third copy of it, wore out the tape and lost c.d, third time lucky, it should out last me. a real guitar hero album.

Ich bin auf Warren Haynes aufmerksam geworden nachdem ich dessen Genialität schon bei den Allman Brothers und Gov't Mule (Der Esel der Regierung) bewundern konnte. Mit Allen Woody und Matt Abts formierte er Gov't Mule, die anfänglich einen etwas härteren Stil pflegten. Mit seinem Solowerk wird bluesiger, was seiner tollen Stimme und dem absolut fetten Gitarrensound entgegenkommt. Im Gegensatz zu vielen CDs heutzutage kann man dieses Meisterwerk immer wieder aus dem Regal holen und selbst nach Jahren erfreut man sich immer wieder daran! Wer jetzt am Feuer gefangen hat und mehr brauch kann sich ja von Warren Haynes "Man in Motion" reinziehen, oder gleich alle CDs von Gov't Mule bestellen, oder die Jungs auch mal live besuchen, denn die touren jedes Jahr hier in Deutschland, wer das verpasst ist wirklich selbst Schuld!

ガヴァメント・ミュールに比べれば肩の力が抜けている…とは言っても、この人のこと。持ち前のエネルギー総量がケタ違いなので、すさまじい緊張感にあふれています。66分の中で、どこで力を抜けばいいかと聞いていると、結局最後まで気を抜けなかった。ドラムズ、ベース、キーボードのサポートをしているメンバーも腕達者です。ヘインズは、ボーカリストとしても魅力あります。また、ギターとスライド・ギターは違う楽器なのだ、という考えがよく出ています。スライド・ギターを曲の最初から最後まで使い続ける方法は、主流になりつつありますね。 最終曲11. broken promised land は、ジミ・ヘンドリクスへのオマージュだと思います。

This album is Warren’s first attempt as a solo artist and it sounds a lot like early Gov’t Mule. With that being said if you are a Mule fan you will love this album.

1er album de Warren Haynes en 1993, produit par Chuck Leavell et c'est un coup de maître! Il avait déjà une carrière bien entamée depuis les années 80 et avait intégré en 1989 le Allman Brothers band, redonnant à ce groupe vénérable une 2nde jeunesse (écoutez leur concert à Woodtsock en 1994, d'un tout autre niveau que celui soporifique de l'ami Dylan!). En parallèle il commence ici une superbe carrière solo. On connaît ses qualités de guitariste, un des meilleurs de sa génération tout simplement, toujours très bien entouré, sans solo superflu ou virtuosité gratuite, ça ne sert à rien. C'est un chanteur plus qu'honorable aussi et il est rare de réussir à concilier chant et jeu de guitare de haut niveau. Son rock souvent pêchu est gorgé de blues, de soul, de folk et d'autres nombreuses influences qui rendent sa musique si riche. Il est évident que son intégration dans l'Allman Bros se sent dans cet album. Mais il n'oublie pas pour autant les ballades: I'll be the one est magnifique. Comme si ça ne suffisait pas, il va aussi fonder avec Allen Woody le génial Gov't Mule, histoire de continuer à porter les bonnes vibrations du rock sudiste dans ce qu'il a de plus large et vénérable! Bravo!
