I Own 3 Now!
I’ve been running these units for 2 summers now. Here’s a no frills Detailed Review to Help anyone looking for these types of ACs and is unsure of what to do Okay so I can’t instal window units in my place, landlord doesn’t want it. Fine. So last year I go nuts researching portable AC units. I didn’t want to waste money, I take my appliances seriously. So when looking for “bedroom” units for my room and kids rooms I came across this unit last year. After a bunch of research I decided to give it a shot. It’s was cheaper than others and for the bedrooms I didn’t need one of those giant fancy inverter units. I bought 2 last year. They worked great. Can take a hot humid upstairs northeast bedroom and bring it down to 68 degrees with ease. Fast forward. I just bought a third one this year for my office as I knew I could trust it. And it’s working great. Knowing my history with this brand let me break it down. It’s loud. Floor units are loud but this is noticeably loud. This is the no frills workhorse of floor ACs. You need cooling? You got it? The price is fair. Lower than others and it cools just as good as the more expensive ACs, but that price comes with some noise. If you like noise during sleep or are a heavy sleeper, it really doesn’t matter. If you hate noise when sleeping or are sensitive to changes in noise levels during sleep this one might not be for your bedroom use. It blows air efficiently. Ice cold. The low fan speed setting is perfect I never have to set it to high. It’s easy to use. Turn it on, set the temp. That’s it. No fancy touch screens, if you need an AC that just does AC functions this is it. Setting it up isn’t bad. It’s basically like every other AC in its class. Pull the hose set it up in the window, add some foam and maybe duct tape that matches your window color to keep that tight seal and hot air out. Good to go. Only thing I’ll say negative about the set up is the window kit doesn’t have multiple size inserts so what I did was took the adjustable piece out back and sawed off some inches with a regular old hack saw. Took me 2 mins. Measure your window and if u don’t wanna do some DIY stuff just buy an extra kit with the smaller size in it. Not a deal breaker. This AC is worth it. It’s also small. It’s nice for a kids room where you don’t wanna mess up their space with some giant appliance or like my office where I wanna save space. It’s not the lightest but that’s where the wheels come in, roll it around. Easy as that. I don’t think I’ve ever had to drain these things. Even units that aren’t marketed as self evaporating do self evaporate just as a product of the condenser heating up and the condensation blowing out the hose. So don’t get too hung up on the idea of excess water in it. It’s efficient, most of that waters blowing out the hose. Again. Value for the money on this is great when you’re trying to cool off rooms. Now to end this, if you need to cool an entire open floor plan living room/kitchen. You are going to want a big, powerful, and expensive dual hose inverter unit. Just the facts. Don’t by a small single hose AC unit for a space it’s not powerful enough to cool efficiently. If you have that large of a space look into the more powerful ones from this brand or shop around. I have a very powerful dual hose inverter unit in my living room downstairs. These ACs are my specific “room coolers”. And they do a perfect job. Furthermore this company has been around since the 90s. It’s not some random company that just popped up on Amazon. Funny enough Shineco started out in the world of DVD players back in those days. Bottom line it’s a solid unit from a manufacturer based in China that has been around for a long time. The price is fair. The parts are well made. The unit works great for the use case. Highly recommend considering I now own 3 and 2 of them are going on their second summer.

Works great!
Great product! It Works! It’s LOUD! Definitely you get what you pay for. But it’s decently priced and cools down my son’s room in seconds. I have vertical sliding windows. The installation took seconds. It was easy.

Powerful but LOUD
This ac unit works great. Keeps it cool upstairs for the 2 small bedrooms we have up there. Easy to install. If you are looking for a quiet to sleep at night unit this is not it. It is very loud. I can hear it kick on when I am downstairs. It’s powerful and works great just loud.

So far, so good.
Received the 8k BTU unit to set up in my bedroom where my computer is for work and for gaming. My bedroom wall and window faces the west so the sun beats down on my from just after noon until the sun finally dips behind the trees at 6pm. Living in the southeast, summers are hot, muggy and unbearable, and recently my whole apartment AC has decided to no longer work. This unit is way cheaper than the repairs for an outdated 20+ year old unit and while it in no way is something to cool off the entire apartment, it took my bedroom from 87 degrees down to 75 degrees in about 2.5 hours. (170 sq foot space). The air flow is strong, and once it starts cooling, it's ice cold in front of the unit with the rest of the room feeling nice and comfortable. My only issue is that the noise level from the unit is in no way 55db. This thing is loud. Louder than some actual window units. It'll be great for white noise to fall asleep to, but is a bit of a problem while in a work meeting or on Discord with gaming buddies. Had to do a little McGyver-ing to get the slide for the window to install right. (Outdated windows in this apartment) but overall, the slide is holding in place for now. Assembly of the hose was easy to do, but be careful not to pull too hard on the bracket or the direct exhaust piece that goes into the window because they will come off. They were easy enough to screw back into place, but it was annoying trying to get the hose positioned correct. As of today (05/17/2026) it's an easy 5 stars from me. I will update once my whole apartment AC is fixed or the summer ends, whichever comes first. Highly recommend for anyone in a pinch.

It does blow cold air
It truly deserves 2 stars but I leave it at 1 star because it does not do the 1 thing is suppose to do. It does not cool the room. Let me explain. I bought this unit years ago for around 200 dollars. Seemed like a good deal at the time. I set it up on a small room in my house, probably a 120sq ft room. Turned it on, it blew cold air but I noticed that the room never got cold. At the time, the window kit did not provide a good seal and the hose got hot and it was putting heat back into the room. So after 1 summer, the AC went into storage. Now I moved to a small office inside my garage. This time the room is about 100sq ft. I got this unit out of storage and set it up again. This time the window kit provided a good seal in this different type of window. I also bought a hose cover to prevent heat from the hose. Sealed the window with tape, put the cover on and turned it on. Once again, it blows cold air, but the room does not get cold. Unless I have the vent blowing the cold air into me, the unit does not cool the room. It baffles me that after 2 hours, the room does not cool from the upper 70s low 80s. Yes, the room is more comfortable now and I am not cooking inside but how can this be? The only explanation I have is that its because is a single hose design, the unit sucks up all the air from the room while still bringing hot air from outside the room through crevices (it sucks a ton of air through the back) , keeping it warm still. The unit uses about 700 watts on low and 720 watts on high. It is extremely loud also, but I rather deal with the noise than the heat. I recommend you spend a little extra and find a DUAL HOSE INVERTER type AC unit. They work 100 times better and use less energy and are super quiet. I know cause I have one cooling my big bedroom but that is stationary and it would be a huge hassle to move it every day from room to room. For now I'll keep this unit for the super hot days and then back to storage until I get a good deal on a dual hose unit

Mediocre
I’d give this Shinco 8,000 BTU Portable Air Conditioner 3 stars overall. It does a decent job cooling a small room, but it takes some time to make a noticeable difference and can be a bit noisy while running. The setup was manageable, though the hose and venting took a little effort to get positioned correctly. It works fine for basic use, but I expected a little better performance for the price.

It’s a quality product and I definitely recommend
All in all it’s great. I have a bedroom that just gets slammed with sun all day and with windows on 3 of 4 said walls, my room just Couldn’t stay cool with the window ac I was using. So I figured best course of action is get an ac that will be friendly with the power in my room while being enough to keep my room comfortable consistently. Added note I game with it behind me and the hum that comes off it is nice on the ears and not too noticeable with my headphones on. So tldr is ac performs well and consistent with high sun coverage and windows, while also not being annoying to hear run all day if need be.

Cools the same as when i bought it 5 years ago
I bought this in 2021 and have used it daily for at least 9 months out of the year maybe more because i am so hot natured in live in the south where the mosquitos carry fans it's so hot. I've never had any trouble with it. I think this is a great unit that is really easy to set up. I also like that it has never leaked. The room i use it in is 19 by 17 and it cools it easily. When its 90 outside my room is 65. It takes it about 10 mins when it's 80 outside to get it that cool and when it's 90 or 95 it takes it about 20 or 25 mins but considering the humidity outside i think it's great. I would definitely buy this again and i am very happy i did! One other thing- the remote is easy to replace which i like because i lost the original:-). Every summer this is my favorite purchase. Its a little loud but as someone that is autistic it's not so loud that it bothers me because it blocks out other noises and helps me sleep.

Aire Acondicionado Muy Ruidoso.
Éste aire acondicionado es demasiado ruidoso. Lo compré para mí recámara pero al prenderlo no se puede oír la televisión y no se puede dormir. No lo recomiendo.
