Seed Needs Herb Seeds Variety Pack of 5 - Italian Herbs Non-GMO & Heirloom

I’ve been really pleased with this basil seed variety pack. It includes a nice assortment of basil types, so it’s fun to grow more than just the standard sweet basil. I’ve already planted several of the varieties, and they’ve all germinated well. My biggest challenge wasn’t the seeds—it was the tiny bugs that kept eating the young seedlings. I had to replant a couple of the varieties more than once, including the purple basil. After putting diatomaceous earth around the seedlings, they finally had a chance to grow and are doing much better. With our 80+ degree weather, I’ve found that watering the newly planted seeds every day is important to keep the soil consistently moist until they get established. The seed packets arrived in excellent condition, and each packet contains far more seeds than I could use in a single growing season. I haven’t had the opportunity to grow every variety yet, but I’ve successfully started about half of them so far, and they’ve all shown good germination. I’m looking forward to trying the rest as the season continues. If you’re looking for a basil collection that offers plenty of variety and adequate quantities of seed, this is a great choice.

This is my first year as a lavender owner, but I’ve been addicted ever since. I own mature lavender plants from Lowe’s, Home Depot, etc. I loved them so much that I wanted to attempt growing from seed. I researched tips and tricks and as a beginner it was a tad complicated. But please DO NOT give up on these seeds! Luckily these are the only lavender seeds I’ve ever purchased and I will continue to buy more! First I live in hot and humid Houston. That already poses many challenges! I purchased these in July 2019. I tried sowing these every few weeks as they were not germinating. Come to find at the beginning it was my fault. First off, do not bury these seeds! The first couple of tries I sowed them half an inch to an inch. They never germinated. They were too deep and I also overwatered due to Houston’s high temp in summer. I left them outdoors and nothing. Along with the high heat I used regular potting or seed starting soil....also a mistake! They don’t like being compacted and the moisture that stays in that soil can rot the seeds. I’ve been continuously successful with potting soil and vermiculite or cactus soil mix and vermiculite. The one main tip is patience! I was extremely impatient with the initial tries. I forgot about a couple of pots I sowed a few weeks before...and sure enough they started to germinate. Eventually as Fall season started peaking in the seedlings have been so active! I started seedlings every week and depending on the weather, location, and water I had some seedlings even sprout in 7 days or less! They are all different and finicky so attempt a lot of trial and error. There were some that germinated in 3 weeks! Depending on the weather I have had some sprout in 6-8 weeks, be patient! The seeds they provide in these packets are more than enough to keep trying! Some grow faster than the others and some are duds. I always put more seeds than required b/c they don’t all germinate. Take a chance on these seed packets.

Unfortunately, half of the seeds never germinated but I contacted the company and they refunded for the order. They guarantee their seeds and it is so awesome to know that they mean it!

Getminstion rate is amazing, I think we did something wrong because they didn't make it very long and were super thin after initial germination even following instruction so we either got a bad batch or did something wrong. But I would still suggest them for germination rate and price alone.

I ordered these 1 year ago and just got around to planting some of them earlier this spring. So far, I've only planted the Chicory and I cannot believe how many of them germinated and 1 year after buying them! First pic is from yesterday and the 2nd pic is from several weeks ago. These germinated very quickly and just took off, quickly overtaking the current pot they're in. My plan is to put them in a large/tall pot or taller raised garden bed, something they can allow for the taproot to grow. I may end up putting a handful of these straight into the ground to see how they do. They survive on roadsides, so you'd think they could handle the yard. I'm excited to plant the other dandelion varieties too. I planted the chicory, mostly for the root harvest - I plant to harvest some this year and some next year since this is considered a perennial that can live around 7+ years in the right conditions but the roots are best when harvested in 1-2 years or they turn bitter. The leaves look absolutely delicious so while this specific variety is usually just used for the roots, since I have so many, I'll be harvesting some leaves for salads.

I’ve tried all of the seed varieties from this set in my Growell hydroponic system. The basil, Italian parsley, cilantro, and dill were the most vigorous growers from my first round of plants. The chives sprouted, but didn’t thrive—I’m not sure if that’s because the hydroponic environment isn’t ideal for them or if the seeds are old. Of the oregano seeds I planted (about 4-6 in all), only one sprouted, and that sprout turned into a very spindly, weak plant. I’m now on my second round of planting, and the savory didn’t sprout at all (about 4-6 seeds sown). The borage is off to a startlingly strong start, and everything else has germinated successfully. Notably, there are no date markers on any of the packets, which is odd—every time I’ve purchased seeds in the past, there’s been a clear indication of the year the seeds should be planted. I suspect these seeds are not fresh, or perhaps there’s a mix of ages. It’s also possible that some seeds were mishandled, such as being exposed to excessive heat. The price is good, but the unpredictability of seed quality is problematic. I would not re-purchase this set for that reason.

This seed packet is good value for the money. I bought the seeds to grow in my hydroponic grower. I'm excited to plant them and see what thrives. I'm very happy with this purchase.❤️
