44S977-0033-G1 25 GHP Vertical Shaft Engine, Black

This was a perfect fit for my 2013 Ferris IS600Z using a legacy 44Q7775145G5 with 595730 Crankshaft. Working as it should. White smoke for about a 30 min. Box included (2) muffler gaskets with engine manual. No oil as expected.

Easy install only thing different is now my throttle control works reverse of what it was before. No fault of the sender put maybe a BIG "THIS SIDE UP" on the box and all the oil wouldn't leak out and all over the motor. Also by being turned upside down the oil dip stick came out and was bent, I straightened it, no biggie there but by the cap being off Styrofoam got in to the oil fill tube, I flushed engine with a quart of oil and a few pieces came out. I'll do a oil change at 1 hour and again at the 5 hour break in period. If I wasn't in need of the motor I'd of sent it back. Also and again no fault of the sender but this order kept having delivery extended a day, 3 times! I finally went and picked it up myself

This engine was mishandled in shipment, the carton was damaged, all of the oil was drained and all over the box, evidently it had turned upside down during shipment. The plastic screen bolted to the flywheel was damage but seemed to have no effect on the engine. None of this was evident until I opened the container. I installed this engine (44S977-0033-G1 25HP) on an old 48" Scag replacing a very tired 20hp Kohler. The Briggs engine had the same mounting bolt pattern as the Kohler. The crank shaft dimensions were close enough for my pulleys and clutch. This Briggs engine come with electric start but has no solenoid also no muffler, I ordered a Swisher muffler #14391, came with gaskets (170 bucks), fit was good. This was not my first engine of choice but comparing cost, availability, it will do the job. It made this tired old machine like new and it is a beast. Very satisfied with the overall performance.

I used ChatGPT and Google AI to verify this as a replacement, and that worked well. Really pleased with the shipping speed and you can't go wrong with Briggs (usually ;-).

I’m curious about buying motors I purchased this one and have been having nothing but problems with it since I bought it I asked for help and for some reason nobody answered me back and I need help please

Received a day early. Package was in great shape. Delivery was made by FedEx. No oil spills, or visible damage. Will install in the next day or two for an update. Looking at the quality of the engine I can tell its solid.

Fantastic engine. Replaced a similar engine on a Husqvarna 48” mower. Has a lot more power than similar HP Briggs Intek
