Excellent, highly durable, and attractive strainer
I bought this Classic Hawthorne strainer from Barfly to replace a lesser quality julep strainer and I am beyond happy with the purchase. This replaced a julep strainer with a weak weld between the handle and the bowl which broke when I was shaking off excess water. I never have to worry about the Barfly strainer breaking. This is one solid piece of metal, no weld at all! It fits into all of my mixing glasses and shaker tins. It is functional and beautiful. I'd highly recommend this product.

Not cheap, but worth it
I got the gold one. Quality is immediately recognizable, as it's a bit thicker than the bargain versions, and the springs are tighter together meaning that they will capture more ice chips, pulp, etc. Fits onto a mixing glass with a satisfying "thwap", and you can pour confidently knowing it will stay put. It's going to cost you more than a cheap one, but if you've got the money and are serious about your mixology hobby, i think you will really be happy. Range of colour choices is great too.

Excellent quality!
The barfly Julio strainer is beautifully crafted and compliments any bar. Heavy to the touch and has a quality finish that will stand the test of time. Barfly bar tools are great and easily recommended!

Perfect Pour
This cocktail strainer was a perfect fit for the shaking tins (as it should be seeing as they are both from barfly). The strainer is easy to use one handed. Cleaning is simple especially if you clean it before anything has a chance to dry. I tend to be a bit too aggressive and get pieces of sponge stuck in the spring. However should you need to remove the spring it's an easy task. Reattaching the spring is simple as the guide is immensely helpful. I purchased the vintage set and so far couldn't be happier.

Another variation on the cocktail strainer
Excellent construction quality and easy to clean. This variant sort of combines the attributes of a modern wire strainer and a julep type strainer, while it's perfectly functional and very well built, I don't think it adds any special capability over a Hawthorne with ears and may actually be a bit harder to manipulate with some tins or glasses. I think most people will find a modern strainer pattern that sits on top of the mixing glass easier to use.
