Messy not effective

Given the times we live in ... I just colored my husband's hair at home today with this tube-comb applicator. His hair is pretty dark, so I opted for Darkest Brown. Following the instructions, I extruded enough product so it was oozing through the comb applicator tip before combing it all over through his DRY hair. So far, so good! His hair is about 1/3" at its shortest (sides & back) and up to 2" long on the top only. His head is LARGE, but not genormous! Just know that given these dimensions, I really needed TWO tubes to finish the job. To my bug-eyed irritation, I ran out of color, and he now has two spots of silver/dark hair at the neckline. Oh. Well. I dipped a Q-tip into the tube and applied just a tad to each eyebrow. In about 20 seconds flat we gasped! He out-Grouchoed Marx! Spooked, we wiped the color off his brow area after just a minute. Whew. Turned out a perfect shade! I think all men should dye their brows to match their dyed hair - it makes them look 10 yrs younger. I just ordered TWO tubes of this to do his hair again in 3-4 weeks. This time I'm going to blend dark brown with darkest brown and see what the result is. I'm hoping for a bit more low-lights and depth, but overall, the color looks better than when we went to the salon! There, they always applied FLAT DENSE BLACK - just too much like shoe polish. If there's one thing we've learned going through these times is: we have options! We'll save over $200/mo doing our own cut 'n color. Will it look tip-top professional? NO! But hey, that is as GOOD as it gets these days. We can live with the results.
