FANTASTIC!!!! GET IT!!
LOVE!! Rehabbed an old painted buffet. Put this on the top and used a wood graining tool (also AMAZING!) and then stained it. Use THIN layers! Otherwise the retique it gathers thickly in areas where the wood grain tool drags through it. Not a huge thing if you want a more dimensional grain feeling to your table top but, I personally wanted my top to feel smooth afterwards. I'm so glad I found this stuff!!! Definitely works and worth buying if you want a natural wood grain look! I'll be buying more and getting the bigger can for even more projects!!

Great product
I used the 8oz light wood and it just barely covered my bathroom vanity (except I skipped painting the inside of the doors and the left side of the vanity isn’t seen—I wouldn’t have had enough to do that). I did 3 coats. Then 2 coats of the dark walnut Varathane 349560 Premium Gel Stain, Half gel stain. And probably 4 coats of spray clear coat by Rust-Oleum.

Amazing transformation and real to the touch texture
The most amazing product for do-it-your-selfers and flippers! It's so fun, and does not require any artistic talent. Just follow instructional video, don't overthink it, and move quickly! I started on a trim board made from MDF board that was painted shiny white, and became addicted to wood graining everything!

Big disappointment
I am pretty bummed about this purchase. This stuff isn't cheap, I bought the small can of light wood to test on a bathroom countertop. Opening the can, I knew something was off. It was solid. Like clay. The can instructs to stir until smooth and then apply. I stirred until my hands cramped up and it never got 'smooth'. And it would not 'paint' on. The wood particles went on like spongey mess and clumped up. I used every brush i owned to try and work the product. It wouldn't go on. Just a mess of spongey brown. I cleaned the counters with tsp the day before, so it wasn't a surface issue. I would like my money back for sure.

Interesting Product
I bought this to paint a frame so it would look like wood. It turned out well. I did not know that it could be stained as well. I probably will try it on other projects too.

Did the job! Looking forward to using it on other projects!
I purchased this to use on a king-sized headboard. The board is made of a wooden outer frame and a laminate middle. I purchased the 4oz container and did 2 coats of the Retique It with plenty left over. I applied the first coat and let it dry for 3 hours, lightly sanded with 120 grit paper, and applied the 2nd coat. Once dry, I applied the Verathane 3x stain in ebony. I only did 1 coat of stain because I did not want it as dark. I let it dry overnight and sprayed a top coat. It does adhere to laminate quite well and leaves a wood-like texture. Am definitely looking forward to trying it on other items! The only con is the price!!

Do your research and practice if you can
The amount you get for the money is ridiculous. Total rip off. That's not the issue though, as that can be subjective to the person's project. It's easy to use - paint on with 2 or 3 coats, waiting 2 hours in between coats. My problem is this:I used varathane stain (the one they recommend!) and all was well and good. Let it dry. Applied some wipe on oil based poly, and it REMOVED the varathane stain I applied. So i had to rework the stain again. My thought is since the stain sits on top of this retique it product and doesn't get absorbed, it's not going to hold up for very long.I'd rather build real furniture from scratch with REAL wood instead of messing with this stuff again. Lesson learned. Don't believe the hype.

Looks Like Real Wood. Everyone Thinks I Stripped The Old Paint
After scuffing with 120 grit sandpaper, I painted over the old fireplace surround with “retique it light wood”. Coated entire fireplace surround using every bit of an 8oz can. I then followed up with a grain tool over a thin wet coat of “retique it dark wood”. After letting this cure for 4 hours (and some persuasion with the heat gun), I brushed on a NON penetrating (very important that you do not use penetrating) stain then once dry, a matte polyurethane topcoat. Taping the wall and stone base took most of the time. This is my first experience using any of these products and did not practice at all before starting this job.Spend some time watching youtube videos and you should be good. No steps were difficult or technical at all, just a little time consuming working slowly to not make any mistakes like missing any spots or wasting materials because i ordered a little less than i was comfortable with. I have turned down somany neighbors and friends (that asked me to do this for them). On to the next project.. 😀
