Best backdrop! Wish I'd bought years ago
Super easy to set up! Slightly tougher to get folded back up, but if you have an assistant, or even a willing portrait client, it takes two seconds. The case it comes in is durable and portable. I love the two sides which, as a friend pointed out to me, can actually be three colours (if you don't use a light on the white, it can be grey!). Super useful, super easy to set up wherever you need to go, definitely worth the money.

I only wish the white side were true white. ...
I only wish the white side were true white. I looks grayish because the black from the reverse side comes trough. And I have to see a few videos on you tube on how to fold it every time I use it. I guess it takes practice.

I think this will do quite well
I'm pretty happy with this background and think it will be very handy for portraits. It seems sturdy enough and it's the cheapest 5x7 I could find. The materials feel solid enough. The fact that it's a framed background means that the wrinkles are generally stretched out by the frame, and less noticeable than wrinkles in a normal hanging cloth background.Since it's in a frame that folds on itself, it is warped. All my sample shots were taken with it just leaning against a well. If the warp really bother me then I would clamp it to two light stands and it should be perfectly flat. The black side is black. If you're shining a strong light on it, it will appear gray, but this thing is big enough that you can place it far from any lights if you want for portraits. The white side is white, and makes it fairly easy to select and replace the background. It's big enough that it's a slight challenge to fold up. But if you've ever folded a reflector or a child's tent toy, then you'll get the hang of it pretty quickly. There are even videos on youtube on how to fold it. My 12 year old son opened it, and I closed it on my first try. You don't need two people.I've included a few quick test shots, and I think it works well. The background replacement was a quick-and-dirty process just to demo.

Flawed
With only two reviews left for this Backdrop so far, I felt obliged to give it my two cents. This backdrop comes in a sturdy nylon rounded zipper pouch.Once you take it out, it takes two people to unfold it, because the metal frame is folded up under such tension, that if you just let it unfold itself it will spring open with such violence, that it could whack you pretty hard, or even take out an eye.Once opened i found that the frame was warped. that is, if you sit it on a flat, level surface it would stick up about 12 inches. In fact, it was so warped it could not possibly be used as a back-drop.The frame is a very heavy-duty strip of 1/2 inch wide metal. it holds the black/white fabric firmly in place the fabric is of a high quality, and could easily be used for a good quality photographic backdrop. It was difficult to fold up again. It took two people, holding it from either end, and one to twist it, as the two people come together and muscle it into its 3-fold state, and stuff into its pouch.Unfortunately, because the frame can't hold the backdrop in a flat plane, it's pretty much useless. i'm assuming mine was faulty, and not all of them are like this. But it seems to me, the longer you keep it folded up, the more it might remember the twisted state of its metal frame. Also, because it requires 2 people to operate, it's not the kind of thing you can throw into your camera kit for a quick backdrop on the road. I think it's better to keep a piece of black or white cloth and a few clamps handy for a backdrop on the go.I decided not to seek a replacement, and returned to Amazon for a refund. Amazon is, as ALWAYS, awesome about this. I hope this review helps.

Good Quality and Firm (not flimsy)
This particular pop up (and I've purchased many) is like most of the others.. black on one side and white on the other. However, unlike some of the other models (within the same price range) there are no visible seams when it is in place. White is not translucent like some of the other which I put in the same category as a bed sheet. The white has a sort of coating that makes the color "pop." The black is black. Both sides are smooth. There is one loop at the tall end and two loops along one side. This product would be much better if there were loops on all sides for stability on windy days for outdoor shooting.I have purchased this exact same product from other sellers and have had great success but then after a few months I order another and I get a cheaper, thinner feeling material. Those pop ups have all been returned and refunded... thank you Amazon for an awesome return policy. I am about to place another order from this seller. As long as this seller doesn't change the material, I will continue to buy this item from this seller.
